Plugins

wordpress pluginsPlugins… Let’s explain them in a simple way. Suppose you want to create automatic backups of your blog, or you want a movie clip to be played every-time you visit a certain page, or you want to insert Meta titles, Meta descriptions and Keywords on each post and page without going through the coding, or you want to create a mobile version of site in the blink of an eye. Well Plugins are there to help you with that. These are tiny bits of software that run in the WordPress installation on your site and let you perform these tasks magically on the spot without going in the coding. They expand and enhance your site’s functionality and offer end users the access of more features and functions.

Similar to themes, these Plugins also can be divided into Free and Premium categories. There are a large number of plugins which would suffice the new user for quite some time. By default there are two pre-installed on the site. “Akismet” and “Hello Dolly”. Though I never found much use of these but some people use “Akismet” for blocking out spam comments, while “Hello Dolly” is the infamous plugin against which many users have complained and said that it is useless. Hello Dolly displays lyric from the song by same name in the top right corner of admin area. Yes that’s all there is to it.

But you don’t have to worry as we are here to tell you all about plugins, their uses, which ones are cool and which ones are bogus. You will find a cool list of plugins below:
